I have dreamed a copywriter in an advertising agency from 13 years old. At that time, to make advertisements was a new job category in Korea. So though I didn’t know about that job, I just thought that working in an advertising agency is very professional and exciting. And I chose advertising major in college and have studied about advertising.
Of course, working in an advertising agency is harder than what I thought about that. If I work in an advertising agency in the future, I have to work until late night and always worry about new ideas. And I‘ll have to meet new clients when a project that I work is changed. It will be very challenge and I will sometimes be frustrated.
But I can work with diverse people. In advertising agencies, there are diverse people that have different majors and interests. This is because advertising agencies think that when diverse people think together about one same problem, it will be easy to develop diverse and effective solutions. Also, I could meet many people working in advertising agencies through my student advertising organization. Many seniors are working in advertising agencies, and they looked confident and professional.
And working in advertising agencies can become a good job experience to me. This is because I can practice thinking creatively in advertising agencies. Nowadays creative is a very important element to us. Therefore, if I quit the job in the future, I will be able to get another job easier than others. In addition, it will be helpful for me to live lively with a way of looking newly. People in advertising agencies have to discover new ideas, so they are inclined to try to look everything in a different way. It will make my life more exciting.
Actually, I’m not sure that working in advertising agencies is fit on me. Now I have no idea about what a job I will have after graduation. But I will keep trying to become a copywriter in advertising agencies.
There are three characteristics of a good leader. Of course, there are many characteristics but I think that these three personalities are important to became a good leader. First, a good leader has to have a positive drive. A leader has many things that have to be decided for the group or company. Sometimes it needs to be decided in the deadline. For example, when some problems that can be harmful for the company are happened, a leader has to think about which solution is the best one and decide quickly. If a leader is very indecisive and likes to follow other people’s decision, the company will be damaged by the problem. So, a positive drive is what a leader has to have. Second, he or she has to be a tolerant person. A leader is the person who stands out the group and leads the group members. So, the leader has to be interested in members. If a leader is authoritarian, isn’t interested in members and only likes to have power, the group members will be dissatisfied with the leader and don’t want to work under the leader for the group. Leaders in big and famous companies are very interested in their members’ personal events and like to talk with their members in person about not only company but also anything that isn’t related to company. By doing so, they can build a good relationship with their group members and consequently the company can be developed. Last, a leader has to be positive and energetic person. Those who have a positive and energetic personality don’t give up and do their best even under bad environment. To sum up, there are three characteristics to become a good leader. Only a good leader can lead the group members in a good way and make the group successfully.
One of the movies that I like is MEGANE. It’s a Japanese movie and I love the director who made this movie. The director said in a magazine interview that she wanted to communicate with people about small things in life through her movies. In Korea, her movies were released as movies that talk about slow life. Especially, the background of this movie is very quiet and empty beach in Japan. It looked really awesome. And each character who was tired in their normal life came to the beach and does a great deal of thinking. In addition, a special feature of this movie is that every character is putting on glasses. While watching this movie, I wanted to go to the beach like background and have time to think about anything. Whenever I feel tired and boring in my life, I watch her movies.
In my opinion, the period when controlled by Japan has affected on Korea. This is because the historical event has an effect on the relationship between Korea and Japan. Also, the period was ended but actually the event is not ended even now.
First of all, as many people know, Korea and Japan had not good relationship at that time. So, some people hate the opposite country each other. Especially, in case of the people who have experience directly or their family member went through, they have a bad feeling about Japan. So, people like that sometimes express their feeling when the government is going to build a good relationship with Japan. Nowadays, the relationship between other countries is very important. But a conflict between the government and the people sometimes disturb that. Fortunately the relationship is changing in a good way through the world cup in 2002. And two countries make an active cultural interchange.
Secondly, the additional events related with the event have been happened in these days. The most serious thing is that they didn’t apologize about comfort women. At that time, Japan took Korean young women and made them be seduced by Japanese soldiers. Most of Korean women had to experience that and after the period, they couldn’t come back to Korea because of shame about that. But, Japan doesn’t apologize about that and rather try to hide their fault. Actually, young people don’t know about that very much and so do I. But when I worked under a documentary director as a part-time job, I read materials about comfort women and saw some of them who talked about their experience. Even though it’s shame for them to say about that experience, they told us about the truth with tears. I felt that the period was ended but the event isn’t ended.
In conclusion, I think that the time that Korea was controlled by Japan is the event that is having a major effect on my country. History isn’t just events that happened in the past. We have to be concerned about that and two countries have to try to solve the problem together.
Nowadays, there are many foreigners that visit to my country. Also, my country is trying to make more foreigners visit to Korea than now. But, travelers will go through both exciting and frustrating things while traveling. So, I want to advise you who will visit my country sooner or later.
First, there is much public transportation. For example, you can use bus, taxi, subway to go to one place. It's really convienient for visitors to move. But, because their stations are little different so you have to find which one is the best way to go to there. Also, in case of subway, it has 9 lines in Seoul. It’s complex for visitors to get a right one for going to the place. So you have to check before you use transportation. And every subway station has information center, so you can ask them.
Second, most Korean inclined to be expressionless. I think that it can make you embarrassed. When I traveled to different countries, I found that most foreigners always wear a smile on their face and they greet with nod when they meet unknown people. Compared to foreigners, it’s true that many Koreans are not, but you don’t need to be embarrassed. Because it’s not their expression about you but just their old custom. So, I hope that you will not be frustrated about that.
Third, it’s so sad to say to you, Samoans which is one of national treasures in Korea was broken by fire prevention of someone. We’re rebuilding it, but it’ll take many years to rebuild it similarly as the old one. It was one of the representative sightseeing’s in Seoul, but you can’t see this directly thesedays. So if you want to see it, you have to visit in the future.
To sum up, there are some things that can make you frustrated when you travel to Korea. Nevertheless, it’s true that Korea is one of the attractive countries where you can make an exciting travel. And the trip to Korea will stay with you as a happy memory.
